The Department of Psychiatry Adult Division NP/PA will provide 7-on/7-off clinical coverage of services at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, CO on the inpatient consultation-liaison (CL) psychiatry service. The inpatient CL position involves in-person work providing psychiatric consultation and management for patients currently admitted to the University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus and may involve supervision of nurse practitioner/physician’s assistant students, as well as psychology, and social work trainees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and supervise psychiatric consultations/evaluations in inpatient medical settings and offers psychiatric recommendations to the consulting teams.
- Participate in performance improvement activities; quality improvement and patient safety activities; assist in maintaining compliance with JCAHO accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards including the code of conduct.
- Actively contributes to academic advancement of his/her/their discipline and maintains eligibility for SOM faculty appointment.
- Help with trainee education in both clinical and didactic settings.
- Participate in cross-covering/vacation coverage of other CL nurse practitioners.
- Cover the CL service in a 7-on/7-off schedule (Monday – Sunday)
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and coordinate with partnering services in the clinical care and disposition planning of patients on inpatient medical services.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
Instructor: $122,000 to $137,000
Senior Instructor: $122,000 to $137,000
Assistant Professor: $122,000 to $137,000

Minimum Qualifications:

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, or Assistant Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
Instructor:
1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
Board Certification with American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA)
Active and unrestricted license as an APRN/ RXN or PAc in Colorado or eligibility for Colorado licensure.
Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Nursing Credential Review Board (Nurse Practitioner) and the Medical Review Board (Physician Assistant).
Masters of Science in the required field (MSN or MPAS)
Sr. Instructor:
1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
Board Certification with American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA)
Active and unrestricted license as an APRN/ RXN or PA-C in Colorado or eligibility for Colorado licensure.
Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Nursing Credential Review Board (Nurse Practitioner) and the Medical Review Board (Physician Assistant).
Masters of Science in the required field (MSN or MPAS)
Assistant Professor:
1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
Board Certification with American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA)
Active and unrestricted license as an APRN/ RXN or PA-C, as well as DEA-eligibility Colorado or eligibility for Colorado licensure.
Meets and maintains specific requirements of the Nursing Credential Review Board (Nurse Practitioner) and the Medical Review Board (Physician Assistant).
Doctorate in Nursing or medical science. Master’s degree and equivalent experience may be substituted.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in consultation-liaison and/or emergency psychiatry
Ability to interpret age specific developmental, physiologic, and unique care needs by assessment and by observation of care delivery.
Experience in making psychiatric diagnoses and managing psychiatric disorders.
Experience working effectively on a psychiatric behavioral health team.
Active before start date to practice as a NP in the State of Colorado.
Active and current license to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the State of Colorado or eligibility for Colorado licensure.
Certificate of completion from a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
