Description
Duke Orthopaedics at Duke Health Lake Norman is seeking a Physician Assistant at our Duke Health Orthopedic Spine and Pain Management clinic in Mooresville, NC. This PA will work with the attending physician and APPs to provide direct patient care services to Orthopedic Spine patients in the clinic and hospital setting, as well as first assist in the operating room.
Role Overview
- Provide patient care including triage, physical exams, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering laboratory studies, assisting with peri-operative workflow
- Procedures such as wound suturing and dressing changes, schedule diagnostic procedures and professional consultations, and prescribing appropriate interventions and medications
- Monitor progress of patients, report progress to supervising physician, and maintain record of patient's progress
- Refer general orthopedic patients to other services as needed
Schedule
- Primary hours Monday-Friday, flexible to meet the needs of the patients
- Rotational on-call responsibilities, including weekends, for orthopedic spine surgery and inpatient rounding
Experience and Education
- 2+ years of General Orthopaedics Physician Assistant work and surgery experience with Orthopedics - Spine patients
- Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Bachelor's degree required; master’s degree strongly preferred
