Position Information
Classification Title Physician Assistant II FLSA Exempt FTE 1.00 Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
UHC Minimum:
• Master's degree in a PA program or bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years practice as a PA.
• Georgia license and certification as a PA.
• Current BLS Certification or attainment within 180 days of start.
UHC Preferred:
• Three years of primary care experience with preference given first to College Health followed by young adult health care.
• Experience in an integrated Primary/Behavioral care environment. Familiarity with electronic medical records.
Position Summary
Provision of age-appropriate primary care to eligible members of the University Community at the University of Georgia Health Center under the supervision of a physician. The Health Center is a large multi-specialty ambulatory care organization that is accredited by the Joint Commission. Physician Assistants are members of the Medical Staff whose primary responsibilities are to provide age-appropriate health care in the form of prevention, health education, promotion of wellness, assessment and treatment.

- Clinical knowledge base, ability to perform physical assessments accurately and efficiently, minor procedures, facility with electronic records, communication, and leadership skills.

Physical Demands
- Standing, typing, walking limited distances, moving from sitting to standing frequently, pushing/pulling, lifting, bending squatting and kneeling as needed.

Clinical Services:
- Provision of primary care to include obtaining current and past history, performing physical assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up in the context of a primary care medical home as a primary care provider.
- Prescribing medications as needed, minor procedures, patient education, ordering and interpreting clinical tests, care coordination,n and referrals.
- Documentation of encounters in a concise yet detailed and informative manner using an electronic medical record.
Percentage of time 85 Duties/Responsibilities
Leadership:
- Communicating with and integrating into both a primary care team and a multidisciplinary ambulatory environment of care.
- Participating in process improvement.
- Attending and participating in committee and staff meetings. Contributes to the culture of service excellence as a citizen of the University Health Center, Student Affairs, and the greater University of Georgia Community.
- Obtains appropriate continuing medical education credits as a requirement for maintaining licensure and national certifications.
