Indiana, Ohio, or Kentucky Preferred | Open to Exceptional Remote Candidates | Full-Time | Reports to Founder & Managing Partner
Convert Conviction Into Capital. Help 1,000 Surgeons Build Generational Wealth.
Trust transfers human-to-human, not marketing-to-human.
That’s the operating truth behind everything we do at Apta Investment Group. We’re a physician-founded real estate private equity firm with a singular mission: helping surgeons escape burnout, build generational wealth, and practice medicine by choice - not financial necessity.
For our target investor: the Million-Dollar Surgeon awareness is not the constraint. Conviction is. And conviction is built through peer credibility, consultative dialogue, and a relationship-first process that respects their intelligence, their time, and their skepticism.
We’re looking for a Director of Investor Relations who has successfully raised capital from high-net-worth investors ideally surgeons, physicians, or medical professionals and understands that sophisticated investors don’t get sold. They get convinced.
If you’ve built a track record converting skeptical, accomplished professionals into committed investors through trust, education, and strategic persistence we want to meet you.
Our Vision & Purpose
Vision:By 2035, 1,000 financially independent, million-dollar surgeons practicing by choice impacting 25 million patient lives.
Purpose: We enhance the quality of life for surgeons, their patients, and their families creating a positive ripple effect that strengthens the practice of medicine and the communities it serves.
With our partners and a 20-year track record, zero investor capital calls, and zero investor losses, Apta has scaled to 80+ physician investors. We are now accelerating growth and we need a Director of Investor Relations to lead the conversion engine that turns qualified surgeon leads into committed, funded investors.
Our Values: T.I.M.E.
We give our investors freedom with their most valuable, limited resource.
Transparency: We communicate openly, honestly, and clearly—building trust within our team and with the surgeons and families we serve.
Integrity: We do what is right, even when it’s difficult, and uphold the highest ethical standards in every decision.
Meticulousness: We operate with precision and discipline, taking pride in the details that protect capital, build confidence, and create long-term results.
Evolve: We embrace continuous learning and improvement—personally, professionally, and organizationally—so our clients and our firm remain resilient in a changing world.
The Role
Marketing generates awareness and qualified leads. You convert them into investors. You are the conversion engine.
The Director of Investor Experience owns the relationship after capital is funded. You own everything in between from the first Discovery Call through the wired investment.
As Director of Investor Relations, you lead Apta’s entire capital raising function. You are supported by the Investor Marketing Manager and together with an offshore Marketing Coordinator, you operate a full-stack investor acquisition team. Your job is to take qualified Million-Dollar Surgeon leads from private dinners, webinars, digital funnels, and peer referrals and build the conviction that turns interest into commitment.
Our founder, Dr. Vasu Kakarlapudi a practicing ENT surgeon himself serves as a strategic trust accelerator on select calls and at key events. He deepens conviction but never asks for capital. You are the closer. You own the ask, the follow-through, and the funded outcome.
Lead the Conversion Process
Discovery Calls: Conduct qualification conversations that feel like peer-level dialogue, not sales pitches. Assess mutual fit. Identify the prospect’s psychological persona Competitive, Methodical, Humanist, or Spontaneous and capture qualifying data that drives every downstream interaction. The prospect should do 60%+ of the talking. You should leave every call with a clear understanding of their situation, their motivation, and their concerns.
Persona-Based Conviction Building: Adapt your approach to match how each surgeon makes decisions. Competitive surgeons want performance data and exclusivity. Methodical surgeons need documentation and time. Humanist surgeons want to trust you before they trust the numbers. Spontaneous surgeons need clear action steps and urgency. You navigate all four with fluency because you’ve worked with surgeons before and understand what drives them.
Objection Resolution: Steel-man every concern. These are sophisticated, accomplished professionals with real objections about illiquidity, market risk, tax implications, and syndication structures. You don’t dismiss objections you validate them, address them with evidence, and let conviction build at the investor’s pace. Some deals take six months. That patience is the strategy, not a failure.
Conversion Execution: Move qualified prospects through the pipeline: Interest Expressed → Soft Commit → Hard Commit → Funded. Resolve blockers—advisor approval, spouse buy-in, timing constraints. Engage the founder strategically when a trust call would move the needle. Drive deals to close.
Meet Surgeons Where They Are
Million-Dollar Surgeons operate on 5 clinical days per week. They’re in the OR, in the clinic, and in back-to-back patient encounters during business hours. Reaching them requires creativity and adaptability:
A well-timed text after a long OR day may be more effective than a voicemail.
A 7pm call when they’re finally home may be the only window.
A Saturday morning follow-up when they have headspace may convert faster than a Monday email.
You do whatever it takes to get to the outcome within the week, through the right channel, at the right moment.
Own the Capital Raise Pipeline
Pipeline Management: Maintain real-time accuracy of every deal in HubSpot. Create deals at soft commit, assign confidence tiers, update stages daily, and ensure the Capital Certainty Dashboard reflects reality not optimism. An inaccurate pipeline is worse than no pipeline.
Capital Certainty: Own the weighted pipeline calculation that drives leadership decision-making during active raises. Know your gap, know your conversion risk, and have a plan to close both.
War Room Leadership: Run weekly pipeline meetings during active capital raises. Brief leadership on progress, blockers, and tactical adjustments. Deliver post-raise analysis that sharpens the process for the next cycle.
Attend & Convert at High-Trust Events
Private Dinners: Attend intimate 8–10 surgeon events across Indianapolis, Louisville, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Lexington alongside the Investor Marketing Manager and founder. These are peer-to-peer conversations not pitch events. Your role is to build rapport, identify interested surgeons, and convert post-event engagement into Discovery Calls.
Webinars & Educational Events: Participate in sessions that demonstrate Apta’s expertise. Engage attendees who show buying signals. Follow up with precision the right message, to the right persona, within the right timeframe.
Lead the Investor Relations Function
Team Leadership: The Investor Marketing Manager reports directly to you. You set the strategic direction for lead generation, content, events, and channel execution. They execute. You hold them accountable for the quality and volume of leads entering your pipeline and you provide real-time feedback, weekly syncs, and monthly channel performance reviews to keep the machine sharpening.
CRM Discipline: You set the standard for data integrity. Every Discovery Call outcome logged the same-day. Every deal stage is accurate. Every confidence tier honest. Your team follows the standard you set.
Process Architecture: Build and refine the repeatable playbook that scales Apta’s capital raising beyond your individual capacity. Document your approach so the system works, not just you.
Creative Strategy: Bring fresh ideas for lead generation that the Investor Marketing Manager can execute. You’re in the conversations you hear what resonates, what falls flat, and what surgeons actually care about. Feed that intelligence back into the marketing engine.
What’s In It For You
Mission-Driven Impact: Every investor you convert is another surgeon building financial freedom and thousands of patients who benefit from a physician practicing at their best. This isn’t abstract. You’ll know these surgeons by name, and you’ll see the impact.
Leadership Position: You own the capital raising function with a direct report (Investor Marketing Manager) and offshore support (Marketing Coordinator). As Apta scales from 85 to 300 to 1,000 investors, you build the IR team and infrastructure that makes it possible.
Founder Access: Report directly to both the Founder and Managing Partner. Your insights shape strategy. Your voice matters in every capital raise decision. You’re not buried in a hierarchy you’re at the table.
Growth Path: As Apta scales, this role grows into VP of Investor Relations or Chief Capital Officer. Your trajectory is built into the company’s trajectory.
Proven Track Record to Sell: You’re not selling vaporware. Apta has a 20-year operating history, zero investor losses, zero capital calls, and a community of 85+ physician investors who trust us with their capital. You’re selling something that works to people who need it.
Compensation
Base Salary: $120,000–$140,000 depending on experience and capital raising track record.
Performance Bonus: $25,000–$30,000+ base bonus tied to company and role outcomes, plus a capital raise performance kicker tied to funded investor targets.
Total compensation potential of $175,000–$200,000+ for top performers.
Unlimited PTO: We trust you to manage your time and deliver results. Take what you need.
Long-Term Growth: Path to VP of Investor Relations with compensation growth tied directly to company scale as we grow from 85 investors to 1,000.
This position is classified as FLSA Exempt status.
How to Apply
Email: info@aptainvest.com
Subject Line: Director of Investor Relations – [Your Name]
Required Materials
1. Resume highlighting your capital raising track record: total capital raised, average check size, investor type, and any direct experience with surgeons or physicians. We want to see outcomes, not activities.
2. Video (3–5 minutes) answering two questions:
Describe a specific high-net-worth investor you converted. What was their primary objection? How did you address it? What was the outcome and timeline?
What is your experience working with surgeons or physicians? How does that experience prepare you to convert Million-Dollar Surgeons for Apta?
Important: We will only respond to applicants who submit both a resume and video. Your thoroughness here is a preview of how you operate. We are looking for someone who follows through on every detail—this is the first test.
Apta Investment Group is an equal opportunity employer.
Requirements
Required
Proven Capital Raising Track Record: You have personally raised capital from high-net-worth, accredited investors. Not managing the relationship after someone else closed you owned the conversion from initial conversation through funded commitment. You can speak to specific campaigns, specific check sizes, and specific close rates. We will ask you about this in detail.
Surgeon, Physician, or Medical Professional Experience: You have direct experience engaging surgeons or physicians in a high-stakes context capital raising, medical device sales, ASC consulting, practice management, or physician-focused financial services. You understand how surgeons think: significance-driven, time-starved, peer-influenced, and allergic to being sold to. You know why peer credibility matters more than any pitch deck, and you’ve built trust with this audience before.
Consultative Closing Ability: You close through listening, education, and conviction-building not pressure. You can steel-man a skeptical surgeon’s objections, validate their concerns, and guide them to a decision at their pace. You can describe deals that took six months to close and explain why that patience was the strategy. If your instinct is to push harder when a prospect hesitates, this isn’t the right role.
Real Estate or Alternative Investment Knowledge: You understand syndication structures, K-1 income, passive loss strategies, accreditation requirements, and the mechanics of private equity real estate. You can answer diligence questions on the spot without deferring to a deck. If a surgeon asks “how is this different from a REIT?” you have a compelling, specific answer.
CRM & Pipeline Discipline: You have managed a deal pipeline in a CRM (HubSpot preferred). You understand that pipeline accuracy is a competitive advantage, not administrative overhead. You log activity same-day, maintain data integrity, and use the system to drive decisions—not just record them.
Leadership: You have managed or mentored team members and can set the strategic direction for a marketing manager executing underneath you. You give clear direction, hold people accountable, and create feedback loops that make the whole team better.
Location: Based in Indiana, Ohio, or Kentucky preferred. We will consider exceptional remote candidates with a proven capital raising track record who are willing to travel for private dinners, investor events, and key meetings across our primary Midwest markets.
Preferred
Direct experience raising capital through 506(b) or 506(c) offerings.
Background in real estate private equity, syndications, or fund management.
Experience selling to or raising capital specifically from ASC owners, surgical directors, or practice leaders.
Familiarity with investor portals (Agora or similar) and the post-commitment investor journey.
Remote or offshore team coordination experience.
Comfort with AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude) to accelerate research, communication, and pipeline analysis.
Who Thrives Here
Relationship closers who build conviction through trust, not tactics. You’ve never pressured someone into a decision and you’ve never needed to.
Surgeon-fluent communicators who can hold a room of accomplished physicians as a peer, not a vendor. You speak their language because you’ve earned the right to.
Pipeline operators who treat CRM discipline as a competitive advantage. You know that a clean pipeline with honest confidence tiers is how capital raises get won.
Strategic leaders who see the architecture of a capital raise not just the next call. You think in systems: which channels produce the best leads, which personas convert fastest, which blockers need what approach.
Patient persistors who understand that a six-month nurture resulting in a funded investor is a win, not a failure. You play the long game because you’ve seen it pay off.
Ownership thinkers who treat the company’s capital goals like their own. When the pipeline has a gap, you don’t wait to be told you act.
